Minecraft: Star Edition is a fan project and fork of an earlier modification for Minecraft 1.7.10 called 'The Right Branch of Development', created in 2016 and developed up until late 2017 by alexcrish. Who made the original thing?

Minecraft was originally created by Markus Persson, who you might know as Notch. On November 19th, 2011, Jens Bergensten, who you might know as Jeb, took over creative control so Markus could concentrate on new things.

Thanks to Minecraft’s success, Markus formed his own company in 2009. Mojang AB, now a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios, has continued to develop and expand Minecraft, with numerous updates and spin-offs like Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends.
